Put down the sugary treat! WF Reader Ambassador Bec Tippett has some healthy haunts to share…

I have a massive sweet tooth and I always look forward to a little treat every now and then. I always make sure that I have something I can enjoy without feeling as guilty. I would rather eat something knowing I will feel satisfied afterwards, than something I will enjoy for five seconds but will leave me feeling sluggish. My dessert choices are ones that I would eat in moderation, not every day, but a few times a week to reward myself. These options, on the other hand, are totally guilt-free:

Nutie Donuts, Balmain

If you’re like me and have allergies to food, then look no further than Nutie Donuts. With gluten free, dairy free and vegan alternatives, there are heaps of options to choose from like raw cheesecakes, wagon wheels, protein balls and of course, donuts. I’m a regular here so I think it’s worth checking it out!

Gelato Blue, Newtown

Craving ice-cream? Gelato Blue Newtown has a plant-based menu replacing dairy in their ice-cream with coconut milk-based items. Their range of flavours  taste nearly the same as normal sugar-filled gelato (or maybe I am just used to it now!).

About Life, Surry Hills/Bondi Junction/Double Bay

With a few stores around Sydney, there are always options here ready for you at the cafe or sold in the connecting health food store (think raw desserts, muffins, smoothies and heaps more!). I’m confident that whatever I purchase is going to be made at the highest quality and with the freshest and wholesome ingredients.

Don’t live in Sydney? If you’re wanting to DIY healthy treats, I strongly recommend finding inspiration or recipes on nutritionist Jessica Sepel’s website. I have sampled a few of her recipes now which I find easy to make and have the desired effect on the tummy and the taste buds. Try the raw vegan caramel slice!
