You’ve got new tights, new kicks and a shiny new exercise mat, which means you’re pretty much set for total gym domination. Sense a ‘but’ coming? Here it is: You’ll probs exercise even more if you nab yourself a workout buddy.

Research published in the British Journal of Health Psychology found that compared to solo sweaters, people are more likely to hit the gym if they have a pal to train with. Here’s another ‘but’: According to the researchers, gym buddies who offer emotional support are more effective at upping your workouts than mates who simply force you to show up, so choose your sweat-sister wisely.
