Must do trail runs for the 2018 season
We’re throwing down the gauntlet here at Women’s Fitness to urge you to push your fitness limits and challenge yourself in new ways this year. On the menu for this year’s ultimate challenge is completing a trail run – you in? We’ll do it with you. Whether you’re serious about setting personal bests, pushing your body to its limits or you’re just keen to immerse yourself in nature and get your heart rate up at the same time, here are some cracking trail running events from Maximum Adventure coming your way this year – which really should command a place on your sporting bucket list.
Sydney NSW – Saturday 7 April 2018 – 12km | 22km | 45km
The Jabulani Challenge is a stunning trail run through the Ku-Ring-Gai National Park in the north of Sydney. Predominantly on single track, the trail has everything to offer from waterside tracks, rainforest, bushland, steep hill inclines and creek crossings. While you explore some of the hidden waterways that Pittwater is famous for, you’ll find it hard to believe you are only 30 minutes from the heart of Sydney. With three distances to choose from the event caters for hardened trail runners to social walkers.
Lake Macquarie NSW – Saturday 7 July 2018 – 12km | 22km | 36km
If trail running is your passion and you are looking for a family friendly event offering trails with beautiful coastal views and a variety of terrain, you’ve come to the right place. You will find all this plus more at Raffertys Coastal Run. The event is hosted from the magnificent Raffertys Resort on the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie. Nestled amongst beaches and bush on the quiet bay of Cams Wharf, the self catering resort offers visitors an opportunity to experience 38 acres of pure relaxation and rejuvenation, just 90 minutes north of Sydney. It provides the perfect backdrop to a weekend of running and activities for the whole family.
Sydney NSW – Saturday 1 September 2018 – 30km
The Coastal Classic is a 30km trail run along one of the most stunning tracks in Australia. It has everything to offer from rocky terrain, sand running and beaches, to cliff-tops, bushland, rainforest and steep hill inclines. The scenery is spectacular with breathtaking coastal views on the beach and from the cliff tops. You will literally feel like you are a million miles from anywhere. If you’re a history buff, you’ll love to know that this run, set amid one of Australia’s oldest and wildest coastal terrains, is in fact held in the world’s second oldest national park!
Killcare NSW – Saturday 27 October 2018 – 14km | 21km
A spectacular 14km and 21km trail run through the Bouddi National Park, only 90 minutes north of Sydney CBD. The course takes in the sites of Putty Beach, Gerrin Point, Maitland Bay, Bouddi and Bombi Point. With cliff top views of the unique marine park and natural beauty of this area, it’s one not to be missed.
