4 Sydney spots for a healthy brunch or lunch
In case you hadn’t noticed, getting a delicious, wholesome meal is becoming increasingly easy in Sydney thanks to cafes with nutrient-dense menus popping up left right and centre. This is a major win for all of us health-savvy gals looking for a side of crispy kale with our eggs, quinoa and avo. We put together a few of our fave brunch and lunch spots for tasty and good-for-you fare. The following list may make you hungry, very hungry.
74 Spring st, Bondi Junction
Protein pancakes with berry compote and a dollop of nut butter is a good way to start the day. Or if a sweet start isn’t for you, then how about a breakfast sandwich with smashed avocado, persian feta, chilli flakes and truffle oil? The Brunch Lady at Bondi Junction has it all, from pre-made salads with names like Mary Had a Lotta Lamb, fresh smoothies and a DIY salad bar for the more picky eaters amongst us. The very best thing about this place? This cafe doesn’t have the price tag we associate with so many other healthy eateries. A delicious salad is just $12.50 and a wholesome (and super tasty) brunch is yours for just $10.00.
517 Elizabeth street, Surry Hills
The original Bondi Wholefoods location is known for its Instagram-worthy, avocado-laden dishes, and the Surry Hills location has followed suit. From mushroom bruschetta, to muesli-filled breakfast bowls, the savoury and sweet options on the BWF menu are in plentiful supply. If you make it through your brunch or lunch date and you’re still a little peckish, then one look at the baked treats at the front will have you salivating. The raw nickers bar (a snickers bar with a healthy makeover) and the chocolate brownie come highly recommended from team WF.
429 Elizabeth street, Surry Hills
Inside Surry Hills’ Fitness Playground you’ll find a cafe with a smoothie menu that’ll make you swoon. 1 John St, Waterloo
The house made granola is seriously delicious – just look at the picture above to believe us. But if you’re feeling something a little more savoury, you can try the breakfast bowl with quinoa, greens, avocado salsa, kale, sprouts, beetroot and hummus. And why not throw some smoked candy bacon on it? Go on, you deserve it.
