Sweet dreams are made of cheese – and as it turns out, so is a long life.

According to new research from Nature Medicine, a compound called spermidine (found in cheese) has been linked with the increased lifespan of mice and rats.

The same scientists then surveyed 800 Italians (we know they love their cheese) – those with a higher intake of spermidine were found lower blood pressure and better heart function.

Now before you start making an epic cheese platter for one, the high-fat content could have a detriment to the benefits of the compound. Peas, corn and whole grains are better sources of it, but tbh they’re just not as delicious.

So, use this information however you wish. We know how we’ll be using it…
