Celebrate Chinese New Year with Australian Lychees – and try out this sweet, thirst-quenching, cooling earl grey iced tea. 

Why lychees, you ask? The consumption of this fresh fruit at the Lunar New Year isn’t just healthy for you – it suggests starting anew. They’re eaten for superstitious reasons, referencing family abundance and togetherness. Uh, yup, they’re delicious and sentimental.


  • 3 Early Grey tea bags
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 1 bunch mint leaves
  • 10 fresh lychees
  • 1 cup ice
  • 500mL lemonade


  1. Place 3 cups boiling water into a heatproof bowl with three earl grey tea bags.
  2. Refrigerate until fully chilled then discard the tea bags.
  3. Place chilled tea in a large jug, add lychees, mint leaves and some ice and top up the jug with lemonade.
  4. Enjoy!
